The Living Room Stories Play Festival was born of a deep frustration with attempts to perform theatre over video calls. We believe there must be a way to safely produce theatre free of lagging, internet outages, and technologically-challenged relatives loudly consuming soup during integral moments of drama.

Root Beer Occasion is proud to present our festival of short plays through our safe pandemic performance modeland we're honored to contribute to the survival of art at this time.

Where can I watch?

Your very own home! We'll be broadcasting the live performances online.

RSVP to our official Facebook event for updates and reminders!

When?

The Living Room Stories  will be aired on:

Our team will convene in-person at our venue (Brandy’s living room in Brooklyn) and put on the festival. The six plays will be performed for an audience of zero, filmed, and then broadcast online, un-cut. That means real-time performance, real-time set changes, real-time stakes. You know, like theatre!

What's the plan?

How much does it cost?

Admission for this event is free thanks to our generous donors. If you would like to contribute towards this event, please visit our Kickstarter campaign.

“The Living Room Stories” depends on the comfort of each playwright and actor in their level of participation. Just like everything else at this time, its existence is contingent on an ever-changing situation. We will be staying abreast of developments regarding the pandemic, as well as the comfort of each and every person involved. We are ready to cancel the event if it becomes unsafe or uncomfortable at any moment, but we want to approach it with the hope that perhaps, maybe, something good can happen just this once.
